I am writing to urge you to strengthen and pass the American Clean Energy and Security Act (H.R. 2454). Global warming is the most challenging moral issue of our time.  As a person of faith, I have a responsibility to protect God's creation and serve all vulnerable inhabitants.
 
The American Clean Energy and Security Act will:

•	Establish an important step toward a clean energy economy
•     	Place a cap on carbon pollution
•	Create and protect millions of green jobs at home

We must, however, ensure the final version maximizes consumer savings and clean energy job creation by strengthening the bill in the following key ways:

•      Require utilities to get at least 30% of their electricity from truly renewable sources, such as solar and wind, and improvements in energy efficiency, by 2020
•      Reduce free pollution permits to polluters by auctioning more permits and use these funds to create green jobs in America
•      Provide more funding for vulnerable communities internationally which will help with mitigation, adaptation, and transition to clean technology

With this bill, our nation has the opportunity to lead the world in creating a new sustainable green economy, paving the way for an international climate treaty. Please do all that you can to pass the strongest version of this crucial legislation.
